A mini day in the life with the Gay family

I grew up next-door to Rebecca. My sisters and I had an amazing childhood with her and her brothers: long games outside; movie nights; tent sleep outs; endless bike rides to the water hole at the local river. So I was pretty excited when she asked me to photograph her family.

She is probably the most laid back person I’ve ever known, and motherhood hasn’t changed that about her. They are a loving, down to earth family. It was such a treat to photograph them documentary-style at home, relishing in all the simple pleasures that make them feel like a family. Playing in the backyard, tickles on the couch, making pancakes and just being themselves. Bec wondered whether this session would work in their house… but it’s all about them and their strong connections. This is image heavy – there were so many sweet, real and funny moments.
